I read, write, and daydream about adventures. I consider myself a weekend warrior – work is just something I happen to do when I’m not running around. I do field hockey, swimming, and circuit training regularly. Hike some, dabble in muay thai during the off-season, try to make it to dodgeball games, and try to fit in some running whenever I can. I continually try (and fail) to self-learn Chinese.

My previous homes have been Hong Kong, Toronto, Hong Kong, Jakarta, Bangkok, Rayong, Hong Kong, London and now Hong Kong.
People tend to ask, so I thought I’ll tell you.
That tidbit of information tends to help people get a grasp of my quirkyness and somehow explains why: I have a Canadian accent (apparently); I can speak shopping-Thai and taxi-Thai; I have (ashamedly) poor Chinese language skills; I do not have an affinity for Cantopop or marathon karaoke sessions; I didn’t know who Li Ning is when, apparently, the rest of Hong Kong does.

I used to climb and cycle in London, I wish I can cycle in Hong Kong. I love to eat. (A whole lot.) I can’t cook. I imagine that I take nice photographs. I love a good adventure.

I left my job in Hong Kong in October 2008 and bought a one-way ticket to London in November 2008. I then left London at the end of April 2010 on an overland journey back to Hong Kong by bus and rail. I stopped over in Berlin, St. Petersburg, and Moscow before spending six days on a trans-Siberian train. I arrived in Beijing through Mongolia and then traveled down China with my father, arriving in Hong Kong at the end of May 2010.
I have dreamed of doing that journey ever since I was a teenager. Planning it was tedious and scary. Doing it was easy-peasy. It was the journey of a lifetime and a dream come true.
I then spent three weeks of July 2010 in Malaysia, scuba diving, jungle trekking and cave-dwelling, and swatting mosquitos.
Now I’m back in Hong Kong, gotten myself a lovely cubicle, and working hard while plotting my next set of adventures. People are constantly amused and surprised by the amount of travelling and things I get myself into given the measly amount of leave I get from work. I consider that a talent. :)

Hey, I work with the CheapOair travel blog (cheapoair.typepad.com) and we’re interested in having you guest blog for us. Please contact me if you’re interested. Thanks! Aldo.
Good luck with your next venture.
